AdShield intercepts and filters DNS requests on your device using a local VPN loopback connection. We do not run any remote DNS servers, and we do not intercept or route your internet traffic through external proxy servers. All DNS lookups and ad-blocking rules are executed 100% locally on your smartphone. We do not log, inspect, share, or sell your browsing history, web traffic, or DNS queries.
Our app allows you to download and update filter lists hosted on external repositories. The download requests are sent directly to the hosting provider (e.g. GitHub). Those external services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Since we do not collect any personal information, AdShield is completely safe for children. The built-in NSFW/Adult Content filtering option is designed to help protect children from viewing inappropriate content online.
