Core Privacy Principle: Your spreadsheets and documents are 100% private. All processing, calculations, and conversions happen locally on your device. We NEVER upload, read, or share your documents on any cloud server.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how XLSX Reader ("we", "us", or "our") handles and protects your information when you download, install, and use our mobile application (the "App") on iOS and Android platforms.
We take your privacy extremely seriously. We believe that your productivity tools should keep your personal, corporate, and financial spreadsheet data completely confidential.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Because the App is built around a local-first offline architecture:
- No File Contents: We do NOT collect, transmit, store, or have access to any data inside your spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls, .csv), cells, formulas, or exported PDF files.
- No Personal Profiles: We do NOT require user account creation, logins, emails, names, or passwords to use the App.
- No Cloud Storage: All files remain exclusively on your device storage or your connected personal iCloud / Google Drive sandbox.
3. Information We Collect & Third-Party SDKs
To ensure app stability, display non-intrusive advertisements in the free version, and process VIP in-app purchases, we integrate trusted third-party service providers:
A. Google AdMob (Advertising)
The free tier of the App uses Google AdMob to display mobile banner, interstitial, and native ads. Google AdMob may automatically collect certain device-level information, such as:
- Anonymous Device Identifiers (e.g., Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID GAID, subject to your OS tracking permissions).
- IP Address (used for coarse geographic location and fraud prevention).
- App performance and ad interaction metrics.
You can learn more about how Google processes advertising data at Google Advertising Privacy Policy. You can completely disable all ads and ad-related SDK tracking by purchasing the Remove Ads VIP upgrade.
B. In-App Purchases (Apple StoreKit & Google Play Billing)
When you purchase a VIP upgrade, transaction processing is handled directly and securely by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via Google Play). We do not receive, store, or process your credit card numbers or banking information. We only receive an anonymous cryptographic receipt to unlock your VIP features.
C. Anonymous Crash & Performance Analytics
We may collect anonymous crash stack traces and technical device diagnostics (e.g., device model, OS version, app version) to fix bugs and improve performance across different devices.
4. Device Permissions & Why We Need Them
The App may request the following system permissions exclusively to provide user-requested features:
- Storage & Files Access: Required to allow you to select, open, edit, and save spreadsheet (.xlsx, .csv) and PDF files on your device or cloud folder.
-
Photo Library (
NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription&NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription): Only requested if you explicitly choose to export spreadsheet charts/visuals as images or save generated visual exports directly to your photo library. - App Tracking Transparency (iOS): On iOS 14.5+, the App may ask for your permission to display personalized ads. You may decline this request without losing any core spreadsheet features.
5. GDPR & European Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), you enjoy rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:
- The right to access and obtain a copy of any personal data processed by third-party SDKs.
- The right to withdraw consent for personalized advertising at any time through your device settings.
- The right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority.
6. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal data is collected and request deletion. We do not sell or share your personal information or spreadsheet contents to any third parties for monetary consideration.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
The App is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take immediate corrective action.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures. Because your spreadsheets remain stored locally in your operating system's secure app sandbox or storage, the security of your files is protected by your device's built-in passcode, biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID / Fingerprint), and encryption.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new app features, legal obligations, or service improvements. Any updates will be posted directly to this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date.
